New Laptop and the Return of the Fireworks Program

Finally posting some new icons - nothing fancy cuz my Fireworks program is still non-existant (and my aging laptop can't handle the stuff anyway; it just keeps shutting off on me). My new love to be iconized: Owl City - a one-person project consisting of Adam Young, who makes music during his nights of insomnia. His lyrics are really quirky and the melodies are hella catchy. He's supposed to come to Vancouver for a concert some time in October, but I doubt I'm allowed to go. It's on a Thursday night [scowls] School night sucks!

My First Patrick Wolf Experience.
I’m still sort of in my euphoric state.

So last night was my first PW live concert experience at Richard’s on Richards in Downtown Vancouver. I went into the venue having somewhat of a high expectation (having heard so many fans commenting that his live shows were amazing). I came out all giddy and blissful ‘cuz he totally EXCEEDED my expectations.

My friend was driving us, and we got to the venue early, parking right across from the tour bus. We were chatting in the car when suddenly we saw this blond, lanky fellow hopped out of the bus. My first reaction was, “Ah! It’s Patrick Wolf!” My next impression was, “Damn, that boy is tall!” Haha.

If I have to use one word to describe his performances, I’d use ‘mesmerizing’. Just hearing his vocals in a live setting, and watching him doing his thing in general was… yeah. Speechless right now. Sorry.

And for anyone who wants to buy the album at the merch table: sorry to disappoint, but they're not selling it.

It's been awhile since my last update. I've changed my layout: the general layout was not mine but I did make the banner ^-^ Pretty layout makes me happy, yay!

Another fanmix: this time, it's a Wes/Lily (from Stephenie Meyer's The Host) one entered at the_host_novel contest. Didn't win anything (since I'm the only entry -.-") but it's fun to make cuz I just adore this pairing.

So I've just finished watching 'The Family Links' on TV and 'D.I.E.' on crunchyroll and I'm on a roll of making a bunch of Kenneth-centric graphics and fanmixes. Yayness!

First up - a fanmix.

Warning: Huge spoilers if you haven’t watch the series.
Notes: Again with the obsession of Kenneth Ma. Yes, go sue me. His character in this series captured me again because of the mixture of innocence, maturity, and mysteriousness of his background. Oh, and this is quite an angst-y mix, because I just feel like it.

Yellowstone Park Trip, Breaking Dawn and Icons

I just came back from an awesome (albeit ridiculously hot) trip to Yellowstone National Park, took loads of photos, had long hours sitting in the bus (the really hot, sauna-like bus due to the broken AC...), and finished reading the highly anticipate Breaking Dawn.

I've read some people's comments on the book and they are quite varied, so here's my opinion.

--- SPOILER BEGINS HERE... GO AWAY IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK YET ---

Plot-wise: Let's just say the plot for this book is quite... interesting? Lots of surprises, that's for sure. There was the fact that Edward and Bella actually did 'it' during the honeymoon when Bella is still human... and then she got pregnant with a half-human, half-vamp child (I didn't even know that was possible). Then there was Jacob imprinting on Renesmee (guess Stephenie is trying to make a happy ending for everyone). And of course, the Volturi returneth with a whole much of foreign vamps came to help out the Cullens.

Character-wise: Bella is still as self-sacrificial as usual (which is something that used to annoy me alot, but it's more understandable when this applied to the fact that she cares alot about her own child, even when the little thing is literally killing from inside out).
My feelings on Rosalie just kept on going into different directions throughout the entire series - indifferent in the first 2 books, felt pity for her in the third when she talks of her background, and then in BD, I thought she only cares about the baby and that's why she was on Bella's side (that was when I was a bit iffy) but when Bella became a vamp, she was quite nice to her as well. So, I don't know.
Last thing, I'm seriously into the side characters these days, and BD is no exception. For some reason, the Benjamin/Tia and Garrett/Kate pairings got to me. Eleazar's background (that he used to be part of the Volturi) is quite interesting as well.

Some disappoinments: Overall, the book makes me want to continually turn to the next page, and it's filled with more twists than the last 3 books. BUT... yes, there's always the but. I'm kinda disappointed that Alice and Jasper left in the middle (maybe it's just me cuz they're my favorite characters) and that after all the fuss, there's no actual fight with the Volturi AT ALL.

Wanderer was in constant fear that the Seeker would find the human’s (and hers) hidden community; b. after seeing the dead soul, Wanderer was identifying these humans, who, some, had seemed so friendly at first, as monsters; c. at the beginning when only Ian, Doc, Jamie and Jeb were friendly to her, the stares of other humans scared Wanderer. In all these instances, Ian was there with her.}

Yes, I should be reading my textbook for my psych lectures... and yes, I should be typing out my references for tomorrow's interview... but as usual, I'm procrastinating. I know I'll regret it later, but I can worry about that... later. Mmhmm.

So... summer school has started and I'm already behind on the readings ^^" Eh... whatever.
An even better news is that my receptionist job is no more; that's right: I've been fired before I even get to start. I was just thinking either luck is with me (since I literally have insomnia about the job since my first training day and was of thinking of quiting myself) or I just suck too much at being a receptionist.

Summer has officially started for me - final exams are finished, the wait to summer courses is about to end, just had my training for my summer job as a receptionist in a physiotherapy clinic and was commented by my boss as being 'juvenile and high-school-ish' by my dressing attires. Well, excuse me for not looking like the average 19 year old, going-on-to-be 3rd year university student should look like (I look young for my age - if you don't know me, you'll probably guess I'm still 16).

So I guess I should rephrase this: my soon-to-be-sucky summer has officially began.

But I have a plan - look for another job (that receptionist job was recommended by my mother's friend, so I kinda have to take it). That friend may curse me behind my back for leaving the job so shortly, or may snigger about my uselessness as a receptionist, but guess what? I don't give a damn.

Like ill Scarlett's song says, "This is the part of the song where I just don't give a fuck about what you want, what you heard, what you thought. I won't give up that easily."

So... Jeff-ness here we go!

Just finished the most tiring weekend in awhile selling daffodils for Canadian Cancer Society (please don't let me see any damn yellow flowers in the next couple of weeks, or I'll go crazy, I swear). Makes me feel good that we've managed to sell alot, and got a lot of donations. But it really pissed me off that some ppl just ignore you like you were invisible or something... at least some ppl have the decency to say 'hello' back at you even if they don't want to donate... pfft!
