Yellowstone Park Trip, Breaking Dawn and Icons
I just came back from an awesome (albeit ridiculously hot) trip to Yellowstone National Park, took loads of photos, had long hours sitting in the bus (the really hot, sauna-like bus due to the broken AC...), and finished reading the highly anticipate Breaking Dawn.
I've read some people's comments on the book and they are quite varied, so here's my opinion.
--- SPOILER BEGINS HERE... GO AWAY IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK YET ---
Plot-wise: Let's just say the plot for this book is quite... interesting? Lots of surprises, that's for sure. There was the fact that Edward and Bella actually did 'it' during the honeymoon when Bella is still human... and then she got pregnant with a half-human, half-vamp child (I didn't even know that was possible). Then there was Jacob imprinting on Renesmee (guess Stephenie is trying to make a happy ending for everyone). And of course, the Volturi returneth with a whole much of foreign vamps came to help out the Cullens.
Character-wise: Bella is still as self-sacrificial as usual (which is something that used to annoy me alot, but it's more understandable when this applied to the fact that she cares alot about her own child, even when the little thing is literally killing from inside out).
My feelings on Rosalie just kept on going into different directions throughout the entire series - indifferent in the first 2 books, felt pity for her in the third when she talks of her background, and then in BD, I thought she only cares about the baby and that's why she was on Bella's side (that was when I was a bit iffy) but when Bella became a vamp, she was quite nice to her as well. So, I don't know.
Last thing, I'm seriously into the side characters these days, and BD is no exception. For some reason, the Benjamin/Tia and Garrett/Kate pairings got to me. Eleazar's background (that he used to be part of the Volturi) is quite interesting as well.
Some disappoinments: Overall, the book makes me want to continually turn to the next page, and it's filled with more twists than the last 3 books. BUT... yes, there's always the but. I'm kinda disappointed that Alice and Jasper left in the middle (maybe it's just me cuz they're my favorite characters) and that after all the fuss, there's no actual fight with the Volturi AT ALL.
